The question

Choose the best answer.

Why does Ms. Garza ask students to wear old clothes?

  • The art show will be outside on the playground.
  • Paint might get on their clothes.Correct answer
  • It will be a cold day.
  • Old clothes are the school rule.

Why “Paint might get on their clothes.” is correct

This asks for a reason the speaker suggests but does not say outright. She says to wear a T-shirt “you don’t mind getting messy” on a day the class will paint. Putting those together, the student can tell paint may get on clothes.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • The art show will be outside on the playground. — The teacher never says where the art show is.
  • It will be a cold day. — The weather is not mentioned.
  • Old clothes are the school rule. — Nothing suggests it is a school rule; it is only for painting day.
