Why “A pair of scissors” is correct

This tests understanding a spoken description of an object. The teacher says it is used to cut paper and has two handles and two blades, which describes scissors. On the real test the student would click a picture; here the pictures are named in words.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • A glue stick — A glue stick sticks paper together; it does not cut.
  • A ruler — A ruler measures and draws lines; it has no blades.
  • A pencil — A pencil is for writing; it has no handles or blades.
