Priya: Tuan, did you water our bean plant yesterday?
Tuan: No. I thought it was your turn.
Priya: I thought it was your turn! Look, the soil is dry, and the leaves are hanging down.
Tuan: Let’s make a plan. You water it on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I’ll water it on Tuesday and Thursday.
Priya: Good idea. I’ll write the days on a card and tape it next to the plant.
Tuan: And I’ll go fill the water cup right now.
The question
Choose the best answer.
What problem do Priya and Tuan have?
- Their bean plant has too much water.
- They do not have a cup for water.
- They planted the wrong kind of seed.
- Nobody watered their bean plant.Correct answer
Why “Nobody watered their bean plant.” is correct
This tests understanding the main problem in a conversation. Each student thought it was the other one’s turn, so the plant did not get water and the soil is dry. The rest of the conversation is about fixing that problem.
Why the other answers are wrong
- Their bean plant has too much water. — The soil is dry, which means the plant has too little water, not too much.
- They do not have a cup for water. — Tuan says he will fill the water cup, so they have one.
- They planted the wrong kind of seed. — Nothing is said about the kind of seed.
