The question
Choose the best answer.
What does Diego mean when he says, “I’ll keep an eye out for it”?
- He will look for the book.Correct answer
- He will read the book.
- He has the book already.
- He will tell the teacher.
Why “He will look for the book.” is correct
This tests understanding a common spoken expression. To keep an eye out for something means to watch for it. Ana says she thinks she left the book outside, and Diego will be outside at recess, so he means he will look for it there.
Why the other answers are wrong
- He will read the book. — Diego has not found the book, so he cannot read it.
- He has the book already. — If Diego had the book, he would say so instead of offering to look.
- He will tell the teacher. — Diego says nothing about talking to the teacher.
