The question
Choose the best answer.
Read the sentence. The underlined words have an error. Our classroom is [more bigger] than the art room. Which word should replace the underlined words?
- more big
- biggest
- big
- biggerCorrect answer
Why “bigger” is correct
This tests comparatives. To compare two things with a short word like big, add -er (bigger). Using more and -er together, as in more bigger, doubles the comparison.
Why the other answers are wrong
- more big — Short words like big take -er, not more.
- biggest — Biggest compares three or more things; this sentence compares two rooms.
- big — Big does not compare; the word than needs a comparing word before it.
