Ms. Sanchez: Good morning! Next Friday, the library is holding its first book swap. Here's how it works. Bring up to three books you have already read to the library before Wednesday. For each book you bring, you'll get one ticket. On Friday, you can trade your tickets for books that other students brought.
Ms. Sanchez: Please bring only books that are in good shape, with no torn pages and no writing inside. Any books that are left over at the end of the day will be given to the children's hospital downtown. And if you don't have any books to bring, come anyway. Every student gets one free ticket just for stopping by.
The question
Choose the best answer.
What does a student get for each book they bring?
- One ticketCorrect answer
- Two tickets
- A new book right away
- A new library card
Why “One ticket” is correct
This asks for a stated detail. Ms. Sanchez says, "For each book you bring, you'll get one ticket." Numbers come up several times in the announcement (three books, one ticket, one free ticket), so the student has to match the right number to the right idea.
Why the other answers are wrong
- Two tickets — Ms. Sanchez says each book earns one ticket.
- A new book right away — Trading happens on Friday, not when the books are brought in.
- A new library card — Library cards are not mentioned.
