Parking Permit Notice
Senior Parking Permits: Spring Semester
Seniors who drive to school must have a parking permit to park in the student lot (Lot C). Permits from the fall semester expire on December 19.
To apply for a spring permit, bring the following to the front office between December 8 and December 16:
1. A completed application form signed by a parent or guardian
2. A copy of your current driver's license
3. Proof of insurance for the vehicle you will drive
4. A $15 fee (cash or money order only)
Permits will be handed out the first week of January. Students with more than three unexcused tardies in the fall semester must meet with an assistant principal before a permit can be issued.
Vehicles parked in Lot C without a current permit may be towed at the owner's expense. Lots A and B are reserved for staff and visitors at all times.
The question
Choose the best answer.
According to the notice, what could happen to a student who parks in Lot C in January without a spring permit?
- The student could be moved to park in Lot A or Lot B.
- The car could be towed, and the student would pay for it.Correct answer
- The student would have to pay an extra $15 fee.
- The student's fall permit would be extended automatically.
Why “The car could be towed, and the student would pay for it.” is correct
This detail question requires matching the situation to the right sentence in the notice. The last paragraph says vehicles without a current permit 'may be towed at the owner's expense'. 'At the owner's expense' means the owner pays, which is restated in the correct answer.
Why the other answers are wrong
- The student could be moved to park in Lot A or Lot B. — Lots A and B are for staff and visitors 'at all times', so students cannot park there.
- The student would have to pay an extra $15 fee. — The $15 is the normal permit fee, not a penalty for parking without a permit.
- The student's fall permit would be extended automatically. — Fall permits expire on December 19, and nothing says they are ever extended.
