Why “There is enough fruit for 4 cups.” is correct

In a recipe, "makes" tells how much food you will have at the end. This is a common phrase in recipes that English learners may not know. The recipe has 4 steps and 4 cups, which is why choice d is tempting, but the line is about how many fruit cups you get.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • You need 4 bananas. — The recipe asks for only 1 banana.
  • It takes 4 minutes to make the cups. — The recipe does not say how long it takes.
  • There are 4 steps. — There are 4 steps, but that is not what "Makes 4 fruit cups" means.
