The question

Choose the best answer.

How much does a cupcake cost?

  • 25¢
  • $1
  • 50¢Correct answer
  • 10¢

Why “50¢” is correct

To answer, the student finds the word Cupcakes on the poster and reads the price next to it. Choice a is the price of a cookie, so the student has to read across the right line.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • 25¢ — 25¢ is the price of a cookie, not a cupcake.
  • $1 — Nothing on the poster costs $1.
  • 10¢ — No price on the poster is 10¢. The number 10 is part of the time, 10:00.
