Jacob's Big Line
Jacob had one line in the class play. He had to say, "The sun is waking up!"
But every time he thought about the play, his tummy felt full of butterflies.
At home, Jacob practiced his line for his cat, Miso. He said it again and again, until he could say it without thinking.
On the day of the play, Jacob stood up tall. He said his line loud and clear, and everyone clapped.
The question
Choose the best answer.
How did Jacob most likely feel when everyone clapped?
- Sad
- Sleepy
- Nervous
- ProudCorrect answer
Why “Proud” is correct
The story does not name the feeling. Jacob worked hard, stood up tall, said his line loud and clear, and everyone clapped. People feel proud when hard work goes well. Choice c is tempting because Jacob was nervous earlier, but his feelings change by the end.
Why the other answers are wrong
- Sad — Nothing sad happens at the end. The play goes well.
- Sleepy — Nothing in the story shows Jacob is tired.
- Nervous — Jacob was nervous before the play, but he said his line well, so his feeling changed.
