The question

Choose the best answer.

Which day would be best for swimming in a pool outside?

  • MondayCorrect answer
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Friday

Why “Monday” is correct

The chart does not talk about swimming, so the student has to think about what weather is best for it: sunny and hot. Monday and Friday are both sunny, so the student must notice the difference between hot and cold. Using information to make a choice is part of the analyze category.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • Wednesday — Wednesday is rainy, which is not good weather for swimming outside.
  • Thursday — Thursday is rainy, which is not good weather for swimming outside.
  • Friday — Friday is sunny, but it is cold. A hot day is better for swimming.
