What does a magnifying glass help you do?
- Make small things look biggerCorrect answer
- See things that are very far away, like the moon
- Measure how long a bug is
- Catch bugs so they cannot fly away
Why “Make small things look bigger” is correct
This tests knowing a science word. To magnify means to make something look bigger, which is why it is used for looking at bugs. The poster also names a telescope, which helps you see far-away things, so students have to keep the two tools apart.
Why the other answers are wrong
- See things that are very far away, like the moon — That is what a telescope does; the poster uses a telescope for the moon.
- Measure how long a bug is — Measuring length is done with a ruler.
- Catch bugs so they cannot fly away — A magnifying glass is for looking, not catching.
