Choose the best answer.
Which sentence is written correctly?
- Lena and her brother is going to the park.
- The dogs barks at the mail carrier.
- My friends were happy when they won the game.Correct answer
- He catched the ball with both hand.
Why “My friends were happy when they won the game.” is correct
This is like a sentence-rewrite item: the student has to check every sentence for errors. Only the correct sentence has a plural subject with a plural verb (friends were) and a correct irregular past (won). The others each break a rule a grade 3 student should know.
Why the other answers are wrong
- Lena and her brother is going to the park. — Two people (Lena and her brother) need are, not is.
- The dogs barks at the mail carrier. — The plural dogs needs bark, not barks.
- He catched the ball with both hand. — The past tense of catch is caught, and both needs the plural hands.
