Ms. Gonzalez: Good morning, Eagles. This is Ms. Gonzalez with today's announcements. Our canned food drive for the Northside Food Pantry starts today and runs through next Friday. Please bring cans that are not dented and are not past their date. The pantry has asked especially for peanut butter, canned beans, and canned fruit, because those are the items its shelves empty out of first. Bring your donations to your second-period class. The second-period class that collects the most items will win a pizza party, but remember, every can helps a family, even if your class doesn't win. One more thing: because of the band concert on Thursday evening, the gym will be closed after school that day, so there will be no open basketball.

Why “To their second-period class” is correct
This tests catching an important detail from an announcement. Ms. Gonzalez says, "Bring your donations to your second-period class." The announcement also mentions the gym and the food pantry, so the student has to remember which place is for donations.
Why the other answers are wrong
- To the gym after school — The gym is mentioned only because it will be closed on Thursday.
- Straight to the food pantry — The cans are collected at school first, by class.
- To the front office — The front office is not mentioned in the announcement.
