Why did the library most likely change the rule?

Reporting category 3: make inferences, draw conclusions, and think about why the author wrote a text and how it is built.
Read the notice. Then answer the question.
From the Library
Starting Monday, students may check out four books at a time instead of two. Last semester, many students told us they finished their books in just a few days and then had to wait until their next class visit to get more. The library is open before school and during every lunch period. Please return books on time so that other students can enjoy them too.
The question
Choose the best answer.
Why did the library most likely change the rule?
- So students will return their books more slowly
- Because the library is getting too crowded
- So fast readers have enough books between visitsCorrect answer
- Because students asked for more lunch periods
Why “So fast readers have enough books between visits” is correct
This asks the student to infer a reason. The notice does not say "this is why we changed the rule," but the sentence right after the new rule explains the problem: students finished their books in a few days and had to wait for more. Allowing four books solves that problem.
Why the other answers are wrong
- So students will return their books more slowly — The notice asks students to return books on time.
- Because the library is getting too crowded — Crowding is never mentioned.
- Because students asked for more lunch periods — Lunch periods are mentioned only as times the library is open.
