Rehearsal Update

From: Mr. Abernathy

To: Cast and Crew of The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter

Subject: Rehearsal changes for the next two weeks

Cast and Crew,

Opening night is two weeks away, so our rehearsal schedule is changing. Starting Monday, rehearsals on Monday through Thursday will end at 6:00 p.m. instead of 5:00 p.m. Please ask a parent or guardian to plan for the later pickup.

By this Friday, all actors must know their lines without a script. On Friday, we will run the whole play from beginning to end. Anyone who still needs a script will sit out and study while another student reads the part.

Costume fittings will be on Wednesday during lunch in Room 112. If you cannot be there, tell Ms. Chen, our costume designer, by Tuesday.

See you on stage,

Mr. Abernathy

The question

Choose the best answer.

What should a student do if they cannot go to the costume fitting?

  • Tell Ms. Chen by TuesdayCorrect answer
  • Tell Mr. Abernathy on Friday
  • Go to Room 112 after school
  • Ask a parent to pick up the costume

Why “Tell Ms. Chen by Tuesday” is correct

This asks for a detail with two parts: the person and the deadline. The email says, "tell Ms. Chen, our costume designer, by Tuesday." Students need to match the right name to the right task, since two adults are named.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • Tell Mr. Abernathy on Friday — The email names Ms. Chen, and the deadline is Tuesday.
  • Go to Room 112 after school — Fittings are during lunch on Wednesday, and no other time is offered.
  • Ask a parent to pick up the costume — Parents are mentioned only for the later pickup time.
