Which picture should you click on?

  • A boy in shorts playing in the sun
  • A boy taking off his jacket
  • A boy swimming in a pool
  • A boy putting on his jacketCorrect answer

Why “A boy putting on his jacket” is correct

The direction never names the jacket; the student has to connect "getting ready to go out in the cold" with putting warm clothes on. Choices b and d use the same jacket, so the difference is the phrasal verb: putting on versus taking off. Phrasal verbs like these are hard for many English learners, so they are worth practicing at home.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • A boy in shorts playing in the sun — Shorts and sunshine fit a hot day, not a cold one.
  • A boy taking off his jacket — Taking off a jacket is what you do when you come inside or get warm, not when you go out in the cold.
  • A boy swimming in a pool — Swimming in a pool is something people do when it is hot.
