Noah: Dad, can we go to the park on Saturday?
Mr. Carter: Yes, we can. But in the morning we have to buy food at the store. We can go to the park after that.
Noah: Can I bring my soccer ball? Maybe Katie can come too.
Mr. Carter: Sure. Bring your water bottle too. It will be very hot.
The question
Choose the best answer.
What will Noah and his father do first on Saturday?
- Play soccer
- Go to Katie's house
- Go to the storeCorrect answer
- Fill the water bottle
Why “Go to the store” is correct
Noah asks about the park first, but his father says they must buy food at the store in the morning and go to the park after that. The order of the words is not the order of the events, so the student has to listen for "in the morning" and "after that."
Why the other answers are wrong
- Play soccer — Soccer will happen at the park, which comes after the store.
- Go to Katie's house — Noah only wonders if Katie can come. No one plans to go to her house.
- Fill the water bottle — Mr. Carter tells Noah to bring water, but that is not the first plan for the day.
