The question

Choose the best answer.

What should students bring if they want to buy something?

  • A note from their teacher
  • Their library card
  • A bookmark and a pencil
  • Money in an envelope with their name on itCorrect answer

Why “Money in an envelope with their name on it” is correct

The last sentence gives this direction: bring money in an envelope with your name on it. Choice c uses words from the announcement, but bookmarks and pencils are things to buy, not things to bring. The student has to understand the whole direction, not just pick familiar words.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • A note from their teacher — The teacher goes with the class, but no note is mentioned.
  • Their library card — A library card is not mentioned in the announcement.
  • A bookmark and a pencil — Bookmarks and pencils are things students can buy at the fair, not things to bring.
