The question

Choose the best answer.

Which glass should you click on?

  • A glass full of milk
  • A glass with ice in it
  • A glass with a little water at the bottom
  • An empty glassCorrect answer

Why “An empty glass” is correct

The direction never says the word empty; it says "the glass that has nothing in it." The student has to know that these words mean the same thing. Choices b and c are tricky because they have only a little in them, but a little is still something.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • A glass full of milk — This glass is full, which is the opposite of having nothing in it.
  • A glass with ice in it — Ice is something, so this glass is not empty.
  • A glass with a little water at the bottom — A little water is still something in the glass.
