Which thing is the teacher talking about?

  • A clock
  • A ruler
  • A calendar
  • A thermometerCorrect answer

Why “A thermometer” is correct

This tests understanding a spoken description of an object. The teacher says the thing tells how hot or cold it is and has a red line that goes up when it gets warmer, which describes a thermometer. On the real test the student would click a picture; here the pictures are named in words.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • A clock — A clock has numbers, but it tells time, not how hot it is.
  • A ruler — A ruler has numbers on the side, but it measures length and has no red line.
  • A calendar — A calendar has numbers, but it shows days, not temperature.
