Which tool is being described?
- a watering can
- a shovelCorrect answer
- a hammer
- a rake
Why “a shovel” is correct
This tests understanding a spoken description of an object. The key details are a long handle, a flat metal blade, pushing it into the ground with a foot, and lifting dirt out, which together describe a shovel. On the real test this kind of item often asks the student to click on a picture.
Why the other answers are wrong
- a watering can — A watering can has no blade and holds water.
- a hammer — A hammer has a short handle and is not used to dig.
- a rake — A rake has a long handle but teeth instead of a flat blade, and it is not used to dig holes.
