The question

Choose the best answer.

Why does Ms. Parker most likely tell the students not to run?

  • She wants them to read.
  • The bell is about to ring.
  • Someone could get hurt.Correct answer
  • The floor is wet from rain.

Why “Someone could get hurt.” is correct

Ms. Parker gives the rule but not the reason, so the student has to think about why the rule makes sense. Running around tables in a classroom is how children bump into things and get hurt. This kind of "why" question, where the reason is not said, is part of the analyze category.

Why the other answers are wrong

  • She wants them to read. — Reading is only one of three choices she offers. She does not make everyone read.
  • The bell is about to ring. — Nothing says the bell is about to ring.
  • The floor is wet from rain. — The rain is outside. Nothing says the classroom floor is wet.
